We are Back…
..from a week with the grandchildren at our Lutheran Camp. Camp Nawakwa has no cell phone connection, no internet and there is no air conditioning or glass in the windows of the cabins. The air conditioning was missed the first part of the week when it was beastly hot, and glass in the windows was missed the latter half of the week when thunderstorms roared down on us and it rained and rained and then rained some more. Everything became damp and our towels would not dry and our clothes were clammy all the time. And that, believe it or not, is part of the joy of going into the wilderness apart from the normal trappings of life.
But now we are back home and one of the first things I checked after I started the laundry and got groceries was the position of the MSC Natalia on its way to Africa. The ship is supposed to arrive in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on August the fifth, then keep going towards Dar-es-Salaam.
The other thing I am doing today, of course, is to check in on the blog and give you an update on what we are doing. Me-lots of laundry today. Randy-he has been busy even at camp. Camp Nawakwa’s counseling staff are, for the most part, college students, and Randy talked to all of them about this project whenever he could bend someone’s ear. These passionate and kind young people have lots of good textbooks they are willing to share with tech4tanzania’s next container. So here is to the future and the continuation of the story. We have just begun.
