Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A and B, Chicken Pox, possibly Cholera and maybe even some additional stick-in-the-arm, or worse!!, shots are on the schedule for next week.  Yes, Anne is writing the blog today and I am getting ready to go to Tanzania this year with a nice stop-over in Amsterdam to see family, Rembrandt and Van Gogh.  I am excited about all of it…and scared at the same time about this great adventure of mine.  Last year, when Randy went abroad it was easy to encourage him, provide a strong home base (“put some more money in the account, honey”) and cheer him from a safe distance.  But if I want to see the lions and the zebras and all my good friends I’ll have to get on that plane myself.

And that scares me too.  I so dislike flying.  But I will do it this year because it is important not just for tech4tanzania but for me to reconnect with people I call my brothers and sisters halfway around the world.  It’s worth it …and so is the “ouch.”
